Os 150 anos de nascimento de Frank LLoyd Wright são comemorados na cidade de Lakeland, Flórida Central,

(The 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright´s birth is celebrated in the city of Lakeland, Central Florida).

Chamada Cidade dos Cisnes, Lakeland é a maior do Condado de Polk, cercada por centenas de lagos naturais que fazem da paisagem. E é nesta cidade que está o Florida Southern College, cujos prédios tem a assinatura de Frank Lloyd Wright.

(Called City of the Swans, Lakeland is the largest in Polk County, surrounded by hundreds of natural lakes that make the landscape. And in this city is located the Florida Southern College, whose buildings have the signature of Frank Lloyd Wright.)

Além da casa onde viveu Frank Lloyd Wright, ainda decorada e aberta à visita do público, a Universidade reúne seu maior acervo do mundo. Ao total se somam 13 edifícios de sua autoria, um verdadeiro museu a céu aberto que é considerado Patrimônio Histórico Nacional dos Estados Unidos.

(In addition to the house where Frank Lloyd Wright lived, still decorated and open to the public, the University has its largest collection in the world. The total is 13 buildings of his own, a true open-air museum that is considered a National Historic Landmark of the United States.)

Entre os edifícios do campus está a Fonte em Domo, construção central na concepção de Wright para representar a conceitual ‘fonte do conhecimento’. Construída inicialmente em 1948, à época não havia tecnologia adequada para seu funcionamento, de forma que até a reforma de 2007 era apenas uma piscina aberta. Uma estrutura adequada permitiu a adaptação do original para a estética e funcionamento de domo pensado por Wright.

(Among the campus buildings is the Fountain at Domo, central building on Wright's conception to represent the conceptual 'source of knowledge'. Originally built in 1948, at the time there was no adequate technology for its operation, so that until the 2007 renovation was only an open swimming pool.
